One of the core missions of GeocacheAlaska! Inc. is to educate geocachers about geocaching. Whether it be new geocachers who are just starting out or seasoned geocachers looking for advanced tips and tricks, our educational opportunities cover it all.
We publish various How To articles in our regular Newsletter and provide an ever expanding series of educational articles on this website. New articles will be added to this site regularly.
In our Discussion Forums, anyone may post questions to the geocaching community or even post their own tips and tricks. There is a lot of historical information available here as well.
Since March 2010, GeocacheAlaska! has hosted a series of Educational Events (which we call EduVents). These are generally hosted in Anchorage at the BP Energy Center, but they are also broadcast via a WebEx Internet feed and audio teleconference to remote sites throughout the state. Local cachers may setup a remote attendance site in their community and link into the hosting site. This allows local cachers to gather at their own event site and watch the presentation while the teleconference allows two-way communication between the main site and all remote sites.
We have special permission from GroundSpeak to allow our Sourdough members to remotely attend these sessions if they do not have a formal event site near their location. After participating in the EduVent via WebEx and teleconference, the member may log "attended" on the primary hosting site (typically in Anchorage).
Below, you will find a series of downloadable PDF files with presentations from most of our past EduVents. New EduVent presentations will be added as they become available. Also, watch for links to new educational articles in an online format (coming soon).
